About us

Glad Indigenous was established in early 2021 as a Joint Venture with Glad Group. This partnership is grounded in deep respect of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and is in alignment with Glad Group’s desire to positively impact these communities across Australia

The Joint Venture is ambitious in its approach and aims to develop and foster relationships that drive a culture of shared knowledge, learnings, and resources, strengthening connection to people and community, and create better futures for Indigenous people.

Glad Indigenous is a majority Indigenous owned and controlled business that will operate in a culturally appropriate way that centres Indigenous people and their experiences through the entire employee lifecycle.

This will be achieved by Indigenous-led strategies and objectives relating to:

  • Employment goals, including specific programmes to attract talent.
  • Provision of training and career development opportunities to retain talent.
  • Promotion of Cultural Awareness training that drives welcoming and inclusive environments and experiences for Indigenous employees and builds capacity for the non-Indigenous workforce and partners.

Sustainability is central to Glad Indigenous operations, as it is to Indigenous culture. The primary focus areas of sustainable practices are People, Business, and the Environment.

Embedding this into everyday business allows Glad Indigenous to easily share knowledge with partners and encourage alignment with their values and goals in driving meaningful change for Indigenous people and communities.

Our people engage with the community every day. The nature of the work we do is critical to underpinning the sustainability of the communities we work in.

Our multi-cultural and diverse teams:

  • Ensure business and retail environments are clean, hygienic, and free from hazards (cleaning)
  • Provide peace of mind and safe spaces for community members to work and shop in (security)
  • Preserve and maintain safe roads and work sites reducing downtime (traffic management).

Glad Indigenous exists to provide professional cleaning, security, and traffic management services across Australia. Central to our business charter is a commitment to grow learning, opportunity, employment and income security to Indigenous peoples and communities – helping to bridge the gap for First Nations people. nested selector system.

Our story

Irrespective of culture or background, family is the foundation from which one gains emotional and psychological support. This is true of Aboriginal communities, with family standing as a form of spiritual, cultural, and emotional guidance through life. With that in mind, Glad Group decided to establish Glad Indigenous in early 2021 to support Indigenous employment, career opportunities, and raise awareness about Indigenous culture through training and best practice to non-Indigenous employees.

Nick Iloski, Glad Group’s Founder and Executive Chairman has always been passionate about personal growth, creativity, innovation, and helping others. Looking back over 30 years ago when he started his cleaning company, Nick Iloski realised he could make his organisation special and help others through employment opportunities. By supporting employees, and by extension their own family, he truly lives by his words and lead a people-driven organisation.

With Glad Indigenous, Nick Iloski now wants to focus on lifting the wellbeing of people living in our communities, through education, training, and employee benefits. With family as a solid foundation, kindship is at the heart of everything we do, working as ‘one team, one community’ to share success together.

Indigenous Artwork

Glad Group's Indigenous artwork represents our family culture, human values, and our journey towards reconciliation.

Recently, we engaged a contemporary Indigenous artist, Brooke Sutton, a Kalkadoon woman from Bundaberg, who over the past months has worked with us in developing a unique artwork series that reflects our company's identity told through:

  • Our family culture and core values
  • Our commitment to creating a workplace environment that embraces diversity and inclusion
  • Our vision to approach business with a focus on sustainability and Indigenous reconciliation through our actions.

Brooke beautifully captured Glad Group's story and our journey through her own artistic expression and interpretation. Read below for her symbolic interpretation of our three-panelled artwork.

In my painting, the large pink community symbol in the centre panel represents Glad Group with the 10 U symbols on the inside of the community symbol representing Nick Iloski, Glad Group’s Executive Chairman, and his 9 siblings, showcasing the importance of family to Glad Group, which has been instilled into the company since the beginning.

The handprints on the right of the third panel represent Nick and his wife Lucy, and how they created Glad Group to provide cleaning services to customers of a commercial nature. This shows the imprint which they have made on the company and the connection which they will always share with it. The footprints represent Glad Group’s journey from 1989 when it was founded to present day.

The five medium pink and apricot community symbols which flow throughout the three panels represent Glad Group’s five main services with all the different small community symbols and U symbols throughout the painting representing all the different communities that Glad Group’s employees come from, and how they’ve all come together to create their own communities and families amongst the company.

The mountains, river, and leaves throughout the three panels represent the beautiful landscape of Sydney which Glad Group’s main office is based, and the butterflies and dragonflies represent the diverse backgrounds of everyone who works with Glad Group. Lastly, the sun in the first panel represents Glad Group creating a brighter future for customers and employees and their vision to be Australia’s leading authority on integrated services. “
